Terms of Service
Last updated October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and NIXMEDIA LLC, an Illinois limited liability company doing business as “Sloafed” (“Sloafed,” “we,” “us”). They apply whenever you use sloafed.com, the bakery shop at bake.sloafed.com, or the pattern shop at pattern.sloafed.com (together, the “Sites”), or place an order through them. If you don’t agree with these terms, please don’t use the Sites.
Questions? Email [email protected]. We’re based in Chicago, Illinois.
1. What we sell
Sloafed sells two very different things:
- Fresh sourdough bread and related baked goods, made to order for local pickup or delivery. Enter your address at checkout to see what’s available to you.
- Digital crochet and knitting patterns, delivered as downloadable files to your account.
Different parts of these terms apply to each — the bake-order sections don’t apply to patterns, and vice versa.
2. Your account
One Sloafed account works across both shops. When you create one, give us accurate information and keep it current. You’re responsible for activity that happens under your login, so keep your password to yourself. We may ask you to confirm your email address with a short code; some features (like re-downloading a pattern) need a confirmed email.
You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live to buy from us.
3. Orders and payment
Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change at any time, but a change won’t affect an order we’ve already confirmed. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number is entered directly with Stripe and never reaches our servers.
Your order is a request to buy. It’s accepted only when we send you a confirmation email. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item is unavailable, if there was an obvious pricing or description error, or if we suspect fraud — and if we do, we’ll refund anything you’ve paid for that order.
4. Bake orders
- Everything is baked to order, so orders must be placed by the advance-order cutoff shown at checkout for the date you choose.
- Choose pickup or delivery at checkout; delivery availability depends on your address. Pickup details are sent with your order confirmation — please collect during the window shown.
- Our food is prepared in a home kitchen that also handles wheat and other common allergens. We can’t guarantee any item is free of a given allergen. If you have a serious allergy, please email us before ordering.
- If a pickup order isn’t collected during its window and you haven’t contacted us, it may be given away or discarded and isn’t refunded.
5. Cancellations and refunds (bakes)
You can cancel a bake order online any time before the cancellation cutoff shown on that order. When you do, we refund it in full to your original payment method through Stripe; how quickly it appears depends on your bank.
After the cutoff we’ve usually started baking, so we can’t cancel online. Email [email protected] and we’ll help where we can, but a refund isn’t guaranteed at that point. If something is wrong with your order when you receive it, contact us within 24 hours and we’ll make it right.
6. Digital patterns
When you buy a pattern, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download it and use it to make items for yourself or as gifts. You may not:
- share, resell, sublicense, or redistribute the pattern file, in whole or in part;
- post the pattern’s text, charts, or photos publicly, or pass them to anyone else; or
- claim the design as your own.
Patterns are licensed for personal use only. Finished items you make from a pattern are for yourself or to give as gifts — they may not be sold, whether individually or in production quantities.
Patterns are delivered to your account library immediately after purchase, and you can re-download them for as long as you have an account with us. Because delivery is instant, all pattern sales are final and we don’t offer refunds — except where a file is corrupt, missing, or materially not as described. If that happens, reply to your delivery email and we’ll fix it or refund it.
7. Intellectual property
The Sites and everything on them — text, photographs, pattern designs and instructions, graphics, and layout — belong to NIXMEDIA LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. The pattern licence in section 6 is the only right we grant you; nothing else here transfers any ownership or licence to you.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- copy, scrape, or harvest content from the Sites, or access them with bots or other automated means;
- resell our products or access to the Sites without our written permission;
- interfere with the Sites’ operation, probe their security, or try to reach areas or accounts that aren’t yours; or
- share your account credentials or pattern files with others.
9. Disclaimers
The Sites are provided “as is.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties we haven’t expressly made in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We don’t promise the Sites will always be available or error-free.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer that can’t be limited under applicable law, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability to you for any claim connected to an order or your use of the Sites is limited to the amount you paid us for the order the claim relates to. We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses. Some places don’t allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above. If you keep using the Sites after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before starting any formal proceeding, please email us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the problem directly — most things can be sorted out that way.
